Response to Medium’s Zora Publication Excludes Women Of Colour by Rebecca Stevens A. 🦋

I have also found Zora pretty unresponsive. Ironically, the only time I did get a response was when I emailed to say I was removing a piece from consideration.

As a former editor, I know that sometimes editors are inundated with submissions, so I don’t expect an instant response. However, my experience with other Medium publications suggests that waiting weeks to hear is quite unusual.

It would be great to have a clear indication of what’s normal for Zora in the submission guidelines.

Let me also be clear that I don’t mind if my work is rejected or if there are suggestions for improvement. Being ignored when I’m a woman writer of colour (supposedly what the publication is looking for) seems unusual.

It’s another reason why it made sense to me to launch my own platform.
